Industry: Pharmaceuticals

Press Release Summary: Gary Peltz, Head of Genetic/Genomics at Roche to keynote
presentation at PK/PD track at 3rd Modern Drug Discovery & Development Summit on
November 28-30, 2007 in San Francisco.

Press Release Body: MONROVIA, CA - Dr. Gary Peltz, the Head of Genetics and Genomics
at Roche in Palo Alto, CA will give the keynote presentation on "Computational
Genetics: Toward Understanding our Drugs and Diseases" at the Pharmaco - Kinetics,
Dynamics, Genetics and Genomics track at the 3rd Modern Drug Discovery & Development
Summit on November 28-30, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport.

The understanding of genetic factors effecting human disease susceptibility and drug
response is advanced by analysis of murine genetic models. Roche developed a novel
computational method that identifies a causative genetic factor by correlating a
pattern of observable physiological or pathological differences among selected
strains of mice with the pattern of genetic variation. This computational method
correctly predicted the genetic basis for strain-specific differences in multiple
biologically important phenotypic traits, including drug metabolism and drug
response. Of clinical interest, genetic factors affecting narcotic drug withdrawal
and susceptibility to fungal infection in transplant patients were also identified
using this method.

Dr. Peltz, along with over 150 leading industry executives, will present at the 3rd
Modern Drug Discovery & Development Summit. The summit features 6 concurrent
conferences, 6 study sessions and 3 workshops. Tracks include Biological
Therapeutics, Drug Delivery Technology, Translational Medicine, Drug Design and Lead
Optimization, Emerging Targets, and Pharmaco - Kinetics, Dynamics, Genetics &
Genomics. For more information, visit www.gtcbio.com.
